A Canmore Elopement: Sunrise Vows, Mountain Climbs & Puppy Snuggles
Not all love stories are meant to unfold inside a ballroom. Some belong under mountain peaks, at golden hour, with the soft rustling of trees. The quiet shuffle of hiking boots on trail and the joyful bark of three dogs create a unique atmosphere for this Canmore elopement.
This Canmore elopement was exactly that—adventurous, intimate, and perfectly unscripted. A morning that unfolded slowly, intentionally, and full of those little moments that matter most. If you’re dreaming of an elopement day that reflects who you truly are—this one’s for you.
Let’s walk you through the full experience. We will share who was there, what the day looked like, and how we brought it all together in one unforgettable spring sunrise.
Who was part of this day?
The couple led the way—two people deeply connected to nature, to each other, and to creating a day that felt wholly their own. By their side that morning were their closest people—parents, siblings, and their three beloved dogs, who brought so much personality, joy, and love into every moment.
They also chose to work with a dream team of vendors who helped make everything feel elevated yet effortless:
- Photography – Me, Allie Knull’s Photography (planning guidance + full-day coverage included)
- Florals – Forget Me Not Banff Florals created the most stunning, wild bouquet full of spring texture using all purple florals.
- Suit – Custom made, Tailored and modern from Indochino, perfect for spring layers
- Ring – A meaningful, handcrafted piece from Etsy, adding that one-of-a-kind touch
- Hair + Makeup – Done by the bride herself (it helps when the bride is a hair & makeup artist!). It was a beautiful reflection of her creativity and calm energy.
- Officiant – Weddings by Wylie (Aka, Allison) created a beautiful, custom to the couple ceremony
What did the elopement include?
They chose one of my all-inclusive Canmore elopement packages. This meant I helped plan part of their day with intention and ease. From the very first message to the final gallery delivery, I was there to guide them through it all. I made sure their day felt relaxed, real, and so them.
The elopement began in the early hours of the morning as we hiked up to a hidden gem spot for a sunrise first look. As the golden light spilled over the mountain peaks, they took time to soak it all in—just the two of them (and their pups).
We celebrated with their family, exchanged vows, and wandered to another hidden alpine spot for those magical wide-angle portraits.
Later, we made our way to Grassi Lakes, where the couple shared their love of bouldering together. This has been a huge part of their relationship. It was playful, unposed, and so full of joy. There’s something incredibly special about watching two people just be together, doing what they love most.
Where did it take place?
Canmore is a dream elopement destination for couples who crave both adventure and intimacy. Nestled on the edge of Banff National Park, it offers iconic alpine views without the crowds. This makes it one of my favourite places for couples who want something quiet, romantic, and immersed in nature.
For this elopement, we explored two secret sunrise locations. These are only available to my booked couples. Plus, we visited Grassi Lakes, a turquoise-blue gem that’s perfect for bouldering, light hiking, and stunning photo backdrops.
We planned the day with plenty of space to breathe, explore, and just soak it all in.
When did it happen?
This Canmore elopement took place in spring, just as the snow was 95% melted away. Wildflowers were beginning to peek through the forest floor.
We started before sunrise, catching that magical in-between hour when the world is still quiet. The sky is painted in soft pinks and golds. Sunrise in the Rockies isn’t just stunning—it’s intimate. There are fewer people on the trails, the air is crisp, and there’s a sense of peace that’s impossible to replicate at any other time of day.
Why did they choose to elope?
Because they wanted a day that wasn’t about performance—it was about connection.
They have a small family and never saw themselves walking down a traditional aisle. Instead, they dreamed of an experience—a day filled with meaningful moments, where nothing felt rushed or forced. They wanted to include their dogs, be outside, and do something that reflected the rhythm of their relationship. It was relaxed, adventurous, and full of love.
They didn’t just want to be photographed; they wanted to feel the day. To move slowly. To start their marriage with intention.
How did we bring it all to life?
They reached out through my contact form and booked one of my all-inclusive Alberta elopement packages. From there, I helped them:
- Choose the perfect date and season
- Narrow down a location that felt aligned with their vibe
- Build a personalized timeline that included bouldering, family moments, and solo time
- Connect with incredible local vendors
- Craft a laid-back experience with room for spontaneity

Thinking about your own Canmore elopement?
This isn’t just about photos. It’s about how you feel on your wedding day. It’s about waking up with excitement, watching the sun rise over the peaks, and saying your vows with the wind in your hair and your dogs at your feet. You will know that every piece of this day was built around your love story.
If you’re dreaming of a Canmore elopement that’s soulful, intentional, and built for you—I’d love to help you create it.
