How much does it cost to Elope in Jasper?

Eloping in Jasper can cost as much or as little as you want. Most couples who plan to Elope will spend $5,000 - $15,000.

Where can we Elope in Jasper

For Reservable locations; Athabasca day Use Area or Pyramid Lake you must make a reservation by following these steps;

  • Requests will be treated in the order that they are received

  • Please allow 5-7 business days for an initial response

  • Be prepared to have a flexible plan

There is no formal approval process or permission required to hold a wedding ceremony at a public area in the park if you are not using a reservable location, however, you will have to follow their guidelines;

  • No more than 25 people

  • Can only be used for ceremonies & tourists can/may be around

  • Valid Park Pass

  • No large impact on the nature; no picking flowers etc. Can bring a few folding chairs for elders to sit on only

  • No liquor

  • Must clean up area after

  • Decorated cars are discouraged - such as no balloons etc hanging from the car

  • No gas powered generators

  • No excessive noise, horn honking, loud music or P.A. systems are permitted.

  • If you hire the services of a professional photographer, they are required to have a valid business license with the park. This can be obtained through the Parks Canada Realty department at: jasperbusinesslicence@canada.ca or 780-852-6114.

Are there any specific laws for Eloping in Jasper?

Yes! Elopements are considered weddings.

To get married in Jasper Alberta, there are a number of steps you must complete.

Before the marriage ceremony

  1. Get an Alberta marriage licence.

  2. Choose the style of marriage ceremony: religious or civil.

  3. Find a person who is authorized through Vital Statistics to perform marriages in Alberta.

After the ceremony

  1. The person who performs the marriage ceremony keeps the Marriage Licence portion of the Registration of Marriage/Marriage Licence form.

  2. The person who performs the marriage sends the Registration of Marriage portion of the Registration of Marriage/Marriage Licence form to Vital Statistics within 48 hours of the ceremony for registration.

  3. The Registration of Marriage is a legal document. It becomes the official record of marriage and is permanently archived with Alberta Vital Statistics.

  4. The information on the Registration of Marriage is used to create government-issued marriage documents.

Alberta government issued marriage certificates can be ordered at an Alberta registry agent office.

The best time of the year to Elope in Jasper

Spring

Spring in Jasper can be warm during the days but still fairly chilly in the evenings. You can expect the high to be 15-20 degrees Celsius and the evenings to get as cold as -10. The perks of spring is that you will come across a lot of wildlife and the wildflowers will start to bloom. You can expect the water levels to be high as the snow will be melting off the top of the mountains.

Summer

The summers in Jasper can get as high as 35 degrees celsius on hot days. The average whether is 25-30 degrees during the summer. This is perfect whether if you’re wanting to do outdoor activities. The water levels are at a normal depth if you’re wanting to do kayaking, canoeing on a boat tour etc. The evenings can get chilly but nothing too cold so you can still do star gazing in the evenings.

Autumn

Autumn in Jasper is absolutely beautiful, the whether is around 20-25 degrees Celsius, the trees and wilderness is starting to turn colour. This is one of the perfect times to go as the fall colours are coming in, it’s still warm during the days and it won’t be as busy with tourists.

Winter

Winters in Jasper can be VERY cold; anywhere from -20 to -46 on cold days. If you’re wanting to do winter activities this is the perfect location for that as there is also lot’s of fluffy snow. Check with your local guide or photographer on dates in the winter. They will know when the coldest months are so you can avoid the extreme whether.

The best Jasper Elopement locations

Pyramid Lake

Jasper is known for Pyramid Lake. It is tucked away beside downtown Jasper for a more secluded area; however, during certain hours it can be very busy with tourists. There is a small island where you can say you “I do’s” with the blue lake and mountains behind you. It is a location you do not want to miss out on!

Athabasca Day Use Area

Athabasca day use area is tucked away on beside the small strip of land where airplanes can fly in. It is right beside the Athabasca river with a gorgeous mountain backdrop! Tourists can technically come to the location but most people do not know about it as you can not see it from the main road.

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

The fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is a wonderful location if you’re wanting a more private Elopement while being pampered. You will be able to stay at the lodge, eat at the lodge and get pampered there. There is a large lake beside it so you can have the stunning blue waters and mountains in your photographs as well.

Maligne Lake

Maligne lake has a lot to offer when it comes to it’s location and beauty. There are plenty of spots to stop along the way or even at. Maligne lake has water activities available at the chalet as well as food if you start to get hungry.

Athabasca Falls

Athabasca Falls is just outside of Jasper but can be an amazing spot to Elope! Make sure to ask your photographer or planner when the best time to go is because this location can be packed with tourist. Going at the right time is crucial for this location if you’re wanting to avoid tourists!
