How to Include Family in your Elopement

The best part about Eloping is you get to decide if you want to include friends and family or not. The choice is all yours and maybe you’re choosing to include them but you need some help on how to include them! I am here to help guide you on what to do.

When deciding to Elope with friends or family there are a few things you should consider:

  • Will everyone invited be as excited and on board for your vision?

  • Do you want them to hear your vows or would you prefer to do it privately?

  • Do you want to invite someone who may take over control of your day and vision that will shift focus away from you both?

  • Can everyone you want there be able to attend? Where will they stay? etc

  • Do you think inviting the specific people will lead to you feeling like you have to invite more or others?

When it comes to your Elopement there are so many ways to have those closest to you there. Now, let’s get to it!

How to Include your Friends/Family:

Have an Intimate Ceremony -

Invite them for an intimate ceremony. This way they can hear your vows to each other and the signing of the papers! This is a great way to include them if you want everyone to feel like they were truly apart of your memorable day.

Split the day up -

You can share your vows with each other privately than head off to a ceremony to share with your friends or family. This way you get your private moment with each other and your family/friends can feel like they were apart of your day.

helping you get ready -

Perhaps you don’t want your friends or family around for your ceremony. Having them help you get ready for your day is an amazing way for them to still be apart of your adventure but to also keep the rest of the day more private and intimate.

have a two day elopement -

Sounds wild, right? Well, having a two day elopement is a great way to get the best of both worlds. A day privately for the two of you and another day to spend with your friends or family.

invite them for dinner -

You can include them when you’re finishing your adventurous day by meeting for dinner. You could make a reservation at your favourite restaurant, hire a personal chef or have a cook out! This allows you to celebrate with them all and to share your exciting memories that were just created.

livestream your ceremony -

Maybe you don’t want them physically there OR you've picked a location that may be difficult for them to get to. Live streaming or taking a video of the ceremony is a great way to have them present without them physically being there.

Meet up for a meal -

Meeting them for an early breakfast morning or even a picnic lunch. Meeting your friends/family over a meal is a wonderful way to include them in your adventure.

I hope this resource helped give you ideas on how to include your closest friends or family on your special day! Just remember, it is your day and you don’t have to include anyone you don’t want to.
